  1. Ya'll! I love Matthew 5:1-12!

It is a portrait of Jesus and the characteristics that you will possess as you are being saved.

Simply stated; here is a look into each one:

    (1) Poor in Spirit: "empty of yourself; full of Jesus"

    (2) Mourn: "grieve of your sin and the sin of the world; mourn of those who have no food and clean drinking water as well (Africa; Peru)

    (3) Meek: "power under control"...for all you horse riders; it's like this: A horse is "power" "under the control" of her "Master". If her "Master" guides the reigns to go left, the horse goes left. If right, the horse goes right. We are guided by our Master. In other words, to be "meek" is to be under the Control of Jesus!

    (4) Hunger and Thirst for righteousness: don't feel guilty for NOT reading the bible; feel "HUNGRY!" If we don't eat, we die. If we don't have Jesus, we die.

    (5) Merciful: literally means, "To get into the skin of another and to act". In other words, put yourself in someone shoes and show compassion. Jesus put Himself in human skin and died for us!

    (6) Pure in heart: test for heart purity. Air is tested for purity. Water is tested for purity. Gold is tested for purity. You have a pure heart; If your life was a "reality TV" show; what would it be rated? PG, R, X? Would anything you say, do, or think need to be edited? Pure heart= you will see God.

    (7)Peacemakers: be a "friend" maker.

    (8) Persecuted: your life is about Jesus; even if your love for Him cost you your reputation; your friends; your family; your life. Philippians 1:21 says, "To live is Christ, to die is more of Christ."
