  1. Today's verses from Matthew 14 and Psalm 18 are a confusing mix. Psalm 18 talks about having great power over our enemies, because of God's strength. On the other hand we read in Matthew 14 about John the Baptist, Jesus' cousin and the one who prepared the way for Him, getting beheaded by Herod.

So which is it? Do we have power over our enemies because we follow God, or don't we?

The answer is yes...but not like we think. Sometimes things will go the way we think they should, and we give praise to God. Sometimes people are healed from their sicknesses. However, sometimes things do not go the way we think they should and we wonder where God was.

God sees life from a perspective that we could not possible begin to understand this side of heaven. He will never leave us or forsake us... even in death. Death does not have the final answer. Not for John the Baptist, not for those you love, and not for you.

Whether my life be hard or easy, short or long, I WILL PRAISE THE LORD!
